The popular holiday lights display that debuted at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last year is coming back in 2017 with some major expansions. Advance tickets are on sale now at early bird prices for Lights at the Brickyard scheduled for November 17 through December 30.
You can see some footage from last year here at local Fox Channel 59. This year the route is almost a half mile long with dozens of new displays and more than 500,000 additional lights. In all, it will be over 2 miles long taking you across the IMS infield and the Yards of Bricks start-finish line with 2.5 million lights, 400 displays, and approximately 40 scenes.
Many families left positive feedback last year about the lights, the friendly Santa who greeted everyone, and the chance to drive on the racetrack. Most participants took about 20 minutes to a half hour to drive through the exhibit, but the lines were over 2 hours long on some of the busiest days so you may want to allow extra time or purchase a Speedy Pass.
Discounted Speedy Pass tickets are available now through November 16 at IMS.com for $40 per car, allowing you to use a special entry and skip the longer lines. Starting November 17 general admission and Speedy Pass tickets will be available at the gate starting at $25 and $60 respectively, but attendees are encouraged to buy online to save time and money. IMS.com has the full fee schedule.
The hours are Sunday through Thursday from 6 to 9 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 pm. Lights at the Brickyard will even be open regular hours for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
