Appliance Recall: BSH Home Appliances Expands Recall of Bosch, Gaggenau, Jenn-Air and Thermador Dishwashers

On Friday, October 20, 2017, BSH Home Appliances recalled approximately 408,000 units of their Bosch, Gaggenau, Jenn-Air and Thermador brand dishwashers due to the potential of the dishwasher power cord overheating and catching fire. So far there have only been five reports of faulty power cords causing fires that resulted in property damage and no injuries have been reported. This is an expansion of an original recall of 149,000 dishwashers from October of 2015.

Is My Appliance in the Recall?

The recall expansion includes all Bosch, Gaggenau, Jenn-Air and Thermador brand dishwashers sold in stainless steel, black, white and custom panel. So if you bought one of these dishwashers, ranging in price from $850 to $2,600, from a department store, an authorized builder, or a home improvement store sometime between January 2013 and May 2015, you and your family may be at risk. To determine with certainty if your dishwasher might be dangerous, first find the model and serial numbers. They are printed on the inside of the machine. You can find the numbers on the inner door panel or on the side of the dishwasher panel. Then consult The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s list of the models included in the recall to see if your dishwasher’s numbers match up.

What Do I Do if My Appliance has been Recalled?

Currently, the only remedy that BSH Home Appliances offers is a repair. It is recommended that the owners of the recalled dishwashers stop using the appliance immediately and contact the manufacturer for a free inspection and repair.
