How to Replace the Cracked Outer Door Glass in Your Whirlpool Oven

A crack in your Whirlpool oven model WFG320M0BB outer door glass is an unsightly nuisance. While its presence doesn’t affect your oven’s everyday operation, you should still replace the damaged glass before the crack gets worse and the panel completely shatters. Luckily, replacing the outer door glass is an easy DIY task and should only take you a few hours.

How to Replace the Outer Door Glass in Your Whirlpool Oven

Always unplug your oven or turn it off at the circuit breaker before repairing it. Broken glass is extremely sharp and should only be handled while wearing work gloves and safety goggles.
  1. Before starting your repair, place a towel on the floor near your appliance. Next, open the oven door and disengaging the hinge locks by lifting them up. With the locks released, take the oven door off the range and lay it down on the towel.
  2. Remove the screws securing the upper door trim to the oven door. Once the screws are loose, take the trim off the door. With the trim no longer holding the inner glass in place, lift the glass up and off the door.
  3. Now that the inner door glass is out of the way, detach the screws connected to the back of the door handle. Then carefully lift the oven door up and pull the handle off the door.
  4. Work your way around the oven door and remove the screws securing the lower trim and side rail assembly. Pull the trim and rails off the damaged outer door glass.
  5. Remove the cracked outer door glass assembly from the towel and replace it with the new intact door glass assembly. Grab the oven door trim and rail assembly and place it on top of the outer door glass. Secure the assembly with the screws you took out earlier.
  6. Reattach the door handle, and replace the inner door glass by carefully inserting the lower edge into the slot found on the bottom trim. Once the inner glass is in place, affix the upper trim to the top of the oven door.
  7. With the door reassembled, pick it up and insert the door hinges into the door frame at the bottom of the oven. Engage the hinge locks by pushing them up. Once the door is secure, close it and take a look at your newly installed outer door glass.
  8. Finally, plug your appliance back in or turn it back on at the circuit breaker, and cook some delicious food in your oven.
